Valdecoxib Sulfonyl Chloride is a crystalline form of valdecoxib. It is used as a medicine for human use, and is also found in the environment. Valdecoxib Sulfonyl Chloride belongs to the group of halogenated benzenesulfonyl chlorides. It can be synthesized by reacting anhydrous benzenesulfonyl chloride with hydrochloric acid in the presence of a catalyst. The reaction process can be carried out in two steps: first, anhydrous benzenesulfonyl chloride reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen chloride, which then reacts with more anhydrous benzenesulfonyl chloride to produce valdecoxib sulfonyl chloride.
