Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Ether is an organic solvent that is used in a variety of industrial and laboratory applications. It has a hydrophobic nature and can dissolve polyvinyl chloride, cellulose acetate, and active methylene. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Ether is also used as a matrix polymer for cationic polymerization, as well as a surfactant in coatings and adhesives. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Ether has been shown to be an effective acid catalyst, with the ability to catalyze reactions at lower temperatures than other acid catalysts.
