Monoisopropyl phthalate-d4 (MIPSD4) is a hydroxy-substituted derivative of butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP). It is an organic solvent that can be used to analyze estradiol and other related hormones. MIPSD4 is also used to detect the presence of carbonyl groups in environmental pollutants. The detection limit for this compound is 10 ppb, making it a useful tool for determining the concentration of carbonyl groups in the environment. MIPSD4 has been shown to inhibit breast cancer cells, but does not have any anticancer effects on normal cells. It has also been shown to induce apoptosis in human lymphocytes, which may provide some insight into its mechanism of action.
