Informação sobre produto
8-Quinolinecarbonitrile is an atropisomeric compound with two different structures. The most common form of 8-quinolinecarbonitrile is the (+) form, which has a chiral carbon atom. The (-) form does not have this chiral carbon atom and thus is not optically active. 8-Quinolinecarbonitrile can be synthesized from methyl alcohol and pyridine in the presence of a transition metal catalyst, such as iron or nickel. This reaction takes place under high pressure and temperature conditions. It can also be prepared by the cyclization of benzonitrile with thionyl chloride or chloroform. 8-Quinolinecarbonitrile has been shown to cause cancer in rodents and humans, although its carcinogenic effects are not well understood. This chemical may induce mutations by interacting with DNA bases during replication.
