2-(2,4-Dibromophenoxy)acetonitrile is an inorganic compound that is pharmacologically active. It has been used to treat arrhythmias and as an analgesic. It has also been shown to have antiarrhythmic properties and may have therapeutic effects on cardiac diseases. 2-(2,4-Dibromophenoxy)acetonitrile is a weak organic acid that is soluble in ether and ethanol. It can be made by reacting acetaldehyde with 2,4-dichlorobenzene in the presence of a base such as NaOH or KOH. This reaction can be catalyzed by aluminum chloride or zinc chloride. The chemical formula for this compound is C6H5Br2O2N.
