2-Hydroxy-1,8-cineole is a flavonol glycoside that exhibits cytotoxic activity against murine melanoma cells. It has been shown to inhibit the production of hemsleyanum and thp-1 cells, which are important for the propagation of influenza virus. 2-Hydroxy-1,8-cineole also inhibits neuraminidase activity and showed significant cytotoxicity in a human cell line (SKN-SH) test. 2-Hydroxy-1,8-cineole may be involved in the inhibition of neuraminidase activity by binding to the enzyme's active site and inhibiting its function. The orientation of this molecule is crucial for its inhibitory effects on neuraminidase activity.
