• Descrição: 1-Methyl-3-propylimidazolium Bromide (1MPIBr) is a cationic ionic liquid that can be used as an electrolyte in electrochemical studies. It has been shown that 1MPIBr undergoes a reversible redox reaction, depending on the potential applied to the electrode. The ionization degree of 1MPIBr, which is dependent on the pH, has been determined by electrochemical studies at different pH values and it was found that the ionization degree increases with increasing pH. The high value of the heat of dissolution of 1MPIBr in water indicates that it is thermodynamically stable. The morphology and anion content of 1MPIBr have been studied using microscopy and chromatography techniques respectively.
