- 2-(3-bromophenyl)-1-phenyl-1H-benzinidazole
2-(3-Bromophenyl)-1-phenylbenzimidazole is an intramolecular, photophysical, and photochemical compound that differs from the triphenylamine derivatives in that it has a benzimidazole ring. 2-(3-Bromophenyl)-1-phenylbenzimidazole has been shown to have significant enhancement of fluorescence quantum yield, as well as a tunable emission spectrum. This compound also has photochemical properties which are significantly different from those of triphenylamine derivatives. 2-(3-Bromophenyl)-1-phenylbenzimidazole is a biophotonic molecule that can be used in biomedical applications such as imaging or photodynamic therapy. It is believed to have significant potential for use in light harvesting devices due to its ability to generate strong excited state absorption bands at wavelengths between 400 and 450 nm.
