Latanoprostene bunod is a prostaglandin analog that is used to treat chronic open-angle glaucoma. It has been shown to be effective in treating this condition in clinical studies, and has been shown to have long-term efficacy. Latanoprostene bunod is not active against bacterial infections, but does show some activity against protozoa. It is soluble in nonpolar solvents and can be administered topically as an eyedrop or ointment. Latanoprostene bunod may cause adverse reactions such as headache, nasal congestion, increased intraocular pressure, or eye pain. These reactions are usually mild and subside within 2 weeks of treatment initiation.
