Descrição:GT 949 is a synthetic peptide that has been shown to have neuroprotective properties in vivo and in vitro. GT 949 has been shown to inhibit the accumulation of reactive oxygen species, which are associated with neuronal damage. GT 949 also inhibits the formation of amyloid-β fibrils, which are associated with Alzheimer's disease. This peptide has also been shown to be neuroprotective following glutamate excitotoxicity and prion-induced neurotoxicity. GT 949 may also have potential use as a treatment for Parkinson's disease, because it can block the aggregation of alpha-synuclein oligomers and prevent the formation of Lewy bodies.
