It has been shown to reduce cholesterol synthesis in cells by interfering with the activation of sterol regulatory element binding protein-1 (SREBP-1) and thereby inhibiting transcriptional regulation. RGX-104 also has anticancer properties, as it inhibits cellular proliferation and resistance in cancer cells. Studies show that RGX-104 decreases tumor growth, induces apoptosis, and inhibits angiogenesis in some cancers. It also shows promise for the treatment of bladder cancer
