4-Pentylcyclohexanone is a chemical intermediate that undergoes a transition from an organic compound to another organic compound. It can be used as a solvent in the production of formamide, n-dimethyl formamide and other chemicals. The reaction is performed at temperatures between -10°C and 100°C with a reaction time of 5 hours. 4-Pentylcyclohexanone is prepared by reacting cyclohexane ring with chloride, potassium thioacetate, tetrahydrofuran, and ferrocene. 4-Pentylcyclohexanone is also used as a solvent for raney nickel in the synthesis of hydrogen gas.
