LY2812223 is a drug that is currently in clinical development. It is a low-potency antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor and it has been shown to be effective in animal models of neurodevelopmental, psychotic, and other disorders. LY2812223 binds reversibly to the NMDA receptor and prevents the ion channel from opening. This drug has not been tested in humans, but it has been shown to have good absorption across the blood brain barrier and does not produce any neurotoxic effects. LY2812223 is being developed for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease.
