• Descrição: Proanthocyanidin A4 is a procyanidin, which is a type of flavonoid. It has been shown to have antioxidant activities that may be related to its ability to scavenge free radicals and inhibit lipid peroxidation. Proanthocyanidin A4 has been found to have hepatoprotective effects in cell culture studies with liver cells and also has been shown to help in the regression of cirrhosis in animal models. The effectiveness of proanthocyanidin A4 against hepatitis C-associated liver fibrosis was also demonstrated in an innovative study that employed a skin extract as a dietary supplement. In addition, proanthocyanidin A4 has been shown to protect cells from oxidative stress and apoptosis by regulating the expression of proteins involved in cell growth.
