3-(3-Hydroxy-propyl)-8-[2-(3-methoxy-phenyl)-vinyl]-7-methyl-1-prop-2-ynyl-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione is a peptide that has been used as an inhibitor for ion channels. It binds to the receptor site and blocks the flow of ions through the channel. 3-(3-Hydroxypropyl)-8-[2-(3 methoxy phenyl) vinyl]-7 methyl 1 prop -2 ynyl 3,7 dihydro purin 2,6 dione has been shown to inhibit potassium channels in rat brain tissue and human erythrocytes. This drug also has been shown to be an activator for protein interactions with ligands and receptors.
