Zinterol is a 2-adrenergic receptor antagonist that inhibits the binding of catecholamines to their receptors. It has been shown to reduce inflammation in a model system and is used as a treatment for asthma. Zinterol has been shown to inhibit locomotor activity in animals, which may be due to its interference with the binding of catecholamines at the 2-adrenergic receptor. The drug also increases cardiac output and systolic blood pressure. In addition, it may increase energy metabolism by increasing guanine nucleotide-binding protein levels.
