Creatinine deiminase is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of creatinine to creatine. Creatinine deiminase is a human serum enzyme that has been shown to be related to creatinine levels in the serum. The activity of this enzyme can be monitored using optical sensors, which have been developed for use as a diagnostic tool. Creatinine deiminase has been shown to be present in both bacterial and mammalian cells and is regulated by transcriptional regulation. The optimum pH for this enzyme is 5.0-6.5, with an optimum temperature range of 37°C-42°C. This enzyme has been used in many studies as a model system for studying transfer reactions, due to its similarity to phosphocreatinesterase. One reagent commonly used with this enzyme is Sephadex G-100, which binds DNA and RNA molecules together, allowing them to be separated on a gel or filter paper.
