Descrição:
Ethyl 4-amino-3-iodobenzoate (EIAB) is a synthetic ester that has been shown to have tuberculostatic activity. It binds to the esters of aminobenzoic acid and inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of RNA, protein, and DNA. EIAB also has some alcohols that inhibit the production of fatty acids in bacteria. EIAB is not active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Bacillus anthracis.
