In addition, 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-glucitol can be used as a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probe to study the structure of trehalose and fructose. The compound has been shown to bind to locusta migratoria fat body and can be used as an NMR probe to study the structure of trehalose and fructose.
