• Descrição: Flurbiprofen is an anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is a prodrug that is converted to the active form, flurbiprofen acid, in the liver. Flurbiprofen is used to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. The synthesis of this compound starts with the fluorination of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid using N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide as a reagent. This reaction produces an alkylating agent, which reacts with sucrose in the presence of sodium methoxide to produce methylated sucrose ester. This is then oxidized with potassium permanganate to produce methylated sucrose ester oxide, which undergoes a click modification reaction with tetramethyl orthosilicate and triethylamine to produce flurbiprofen sorbitol ester (FSE).
