Myo-inositol is a naturally occurring organic compound that belongs to the group of sugars and polyols. It has been isolated from plants, where it is found in the form of its solubilized acetate ester. Myo-inositol is important as a component of cell membranes, as well as being an essential part of intracellular signaling pathways. This compound has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on cervical cancer cells and can be used in the treatment of this condition. Myo-inositol binds iron and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties.
