(2-Amino-4-methoxyphenyl)methanol is a methoxy compound that acts as an antioxidant. It can be found in the form of its sodium salt, which is often used to treat skin inflammation and wounds. (2-Amino-4-methoxyphenyl)methanol can also act as a hydrogen peroxide scavenger and a glutathione peroxidase mimic, making it useful for preventing oxidative damage. (2-Amino-4-methoxyphenyl)methanol has been shown to have both catalytic and peroxidase activities, making it possible for this compound to function as a selenoenzyme.
