Methyl 4-deoxy-2,3-O-isopropylidene-L-threonate is a fluorinated sugar that can be synthesized with high purity. This compound is an intermediate in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates such as oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Click chemistry has also been used as a modification to this compound. Methyl 4-deoxy-2,3-O-isopropylidene-L-threonate is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and methanol but not in ethanol. It has a melting point of 155°C and a CAS number of 78086-72-3.
