It is an off white solid that has a molecular formula of C6H8O6 and a molecular weight of 252.1 g/mol. This compound is soluble in water and sparingly soluble in alcohol. 1-(2,3,5-Tri-O-acetyl-b-D-ribofuranosyl)-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to possess antiviral activity against HIV as well as cytotoxicity to cancer cells.
