The crystal structure of 2-(5-bromopyridin-3-yl)-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole (2BPOD) is monoclinic with cell parameters a = 14.816(2), b = 11.811(2), c = 1.769(1)Å, β = 101.527(10)°. The crystal diffracts to a resolution of 0.6Å and the structure was solved by direct methods and refined to an R factor of 0.071 for 515 unique reflections with Fobs >4σ (Fobs is the observed intensity). The crystal structure reveals that 2BPOD contains two hydrogen bonds: one between the carboxylate group and the amide nitrogen atom of the side chain amino group on C1; and another between the amide nitrogen atom in the side chain amino group on C2 and O atom in N4
