4-Amino-6-chloropyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is a reactive molecule that is used in the synthesis of macrocyclic aldehydes. It is prepared by the oxidation of anilines with oxalyl chloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid and amines. 4-Amino-6-chloropyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde reacts with hydrazine to form diamines, which are used as building blocks for pharmaceuticals. This molecule has been shown to have anticancer properties, by inhibiting DNA replication and cell growth through its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
