Chlorotris(2-methylpropyl)silane is a chlorosilane that is used in the production of polylactic acid. It has been used to silylate the hydroxy group of taxol, and as a specific treatment for cancer. In humans, chlorotris(2-methylpropyl)silane can cause high blood pressure by increasing the tension on vascular smooth muscle cells. This chemical also has some properties that make it useful for industrial purposes, such as its ability to form an acid complex with hydrochloric acid or its ability to react with an acid conjugate.
