Dimethyl 2,3-naphthalenedicarboxylate is an aromatic compound that belongs to the group of fluoroarenes. It has been shown to react with nucleophiles such as hydroxide ion, ammonia and water to form a number of products. The reactive nature of this compound is due to its electrophilic character. Dimethyl 2,3-naphthalenedicarboxylate has also been shown to form supramolecular assemblies with nucleophilic compounds such as phosphoryl groups and nitrogenous bases. These supramolecular assemblies have been shown to affect the fluorescence properties of the fluorescent chromophore in a way that is dependent on their stoichiometry.
