Molybdenum(VI) tetrachloride oxide is a compound that belongs to the group of organometallic compounds. It is a molybdenum-containing solid with a melting point of 210 °C, and has viscosity of 0.87 Pa·s at 25 °C. Molybdenum(VI) tetrachloride oxide is used as an additive in polycarboxylic acid synthesis, which is used in the production of nylon 6 and nylon 66. This compound also has synergistic effects with polycarboxylic acids in the oxidation reaction, increasing the rate of oxidation by aldehyde oxidase. Molybdenum(VI) tetrachloride oxide is commonly used as an additive for polymers, paints, lubricants, and fuel additives.
