1,3-Benzodioxole-5,6-diamine is a sialic acid analog that has been extensively studied for its potential use as a tumor marker. It is synthesized by reacting 1,3-benzodioxole with the amino groups of L-serine in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid. The resulting product can be used to label glycoconjugates and monoclonal antibodies using a fluorescence detector.
