This compound has been shown to be toxic to rats when administered in high doses (greater than 100 mg/kg). The toxicity studies have shown that the compound causes eye irritation, skin irritation, and respiratory tract irritation in rats. These effects are more pronounced when the chemical is mixed with trimethylolpropane, which is a polyol used as an additive for polyurethanes.
