Ambrisentan is a drug that blocks the endothelin-A receptor and has been shown to decrease natriuretic peptide levels. It also inhibits the binding of endothelin-A and endothelin-B to their receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation. Ambrisentan has been shown to have synergistic effects in combination with other drugs, including multivariate logistic regression analysis of pharmacological agents and a combination therapy group. This drug has shown long term efficacy in treating hypertension, pulmonary edema, and chronic heart failure, among others.
