Descrição:1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperidine-2,6-dione is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme aromatase. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and is currently being tested as an anti-cancer drug. 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperidine-2,6-dione has been shown to inhibit the production of epidermal growth factor in human breast cancer cells. The covalent linkages between this compound and its aromatic ring are responsible for its potent inhibition of aromatase. This analog also inhibits the production of testosterone by blocking the binding site on the enzyme necessary for this reaction to occur.
