Linearmycin A is an analog of saxagliptin, a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes by inhibiting the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). Linearmycin A has been shown to have inhibitory effects on other enzymes as well, including acetylcholine esterase and xylanase. This compound has also demonstrated anti-cancer properties by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells through inhibition of the secretin receptor kinase. Additionally, Linearmycin A has shown potential as an insulin sensitizer in Chinese hamster ovary cells. Zeaxanthin and aprepitant are two other compounds that have been found to be structurally similar to Linearmycin A.
