It can be used to extract Ursodeoxycholic acid from human serum or plasma. The extraction technique can be performed using HPLC with UV detection at 254 nm or by LC/MS/MS. The calibration curve was linear over the range of 0 - 50 ng/mL with an R2 value of 0.9993 and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 2 ng/mL. This compound has been validated for use as an analyte in bioanalytical methods for preregistration studies involving glyco-obeticholic acid (GOCA).
