The hydrocortisone acetate (HC) metabolite of TM 6089 has been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases, cancer, and acute kidney injury. Hydrocortisone acetate has also been shown to be an effective treatment for inflammatory bowel disease through its inhibition of the growth factor erythropoietin. TM 6089 also inhibits the production of other pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interferon-γ.
