Descrição:1-(b-L-Threonyl)uracil is a novel anticancer drug that has been synthesized with the aim of increasing the efficacy of DNA synthesis. The incorporation of this nucleoside in the DNA chain prevents the formation of ribonuclesides, which are inhibitory to DNA synthesis. It also inhibits viral replication and can be used as a treatment for HIV infection. 1-(b-L-Threonyl)uracil is synthesized by reacting b-L-threonyl chloride with uracil in the presence of a base and a catalytic amount of thiourea. This product is used in biotechnology as an activator for phosphoramidites and modified nucleosides.
