7β-Hydroxydarutigenol is a diterpene compound that has been found to have potent anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β, and also prevents the activation of nuclear factor kappa B in vitro. 7β-hydroxydarutigenol was found to be cytotoxic to human cancer cell lines in vitro and also showed an inhibitory effect on contractility of smooth muscle cells in vitro. In addition, this compound has been shown to have biological properties that are characteristic of the genus Callicarpa.
