It is a modification of an oligosaccharide and can be used as a starting material in the synthesis of complex carbohydrates. 4ODBGMEM is synthesized by acetylation of 1,6 di O benzyl 2 deoxy a D muramic acid methyl ester with acetic anhydride and triethylamine. The compound has been shown to be effective in fluoroquinolone resistance and methicillin resistance.
