It is a potent activator of voltage-gated sodium channels and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of pain, inflammation, and other neurological disorders. OD1 toxin also has the ability to regulate the release of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system. The peptides are produced by Odonthobuthus doriae and are structurally rich in disulfide bonds.
