Ginsenoside Rh3 is a compound that can be found in the roots of Panax ginseng. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to the response element-binding protein. This inhibits tumor cell proliferation and reduces oxidative injury. Ginsenoside Rh3 also has anticancer activity against HL60 cells, human skin cells, and cervical cancer cells. The mechanism of inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to receptor sites and activate signal pathways. Ginsenoside Rh3 has also been shown to stimulate colony-stimulating factor in human feces, which is a substance that stimulates the growth of white blood cells. Ginsenoside Rh3 is not active in solid catalyst systems, such as those used for petroleum refining or coal gasification.
