1-Methoxy-2-methylnaphthalene is a vitamin that is found in some plants, such as blackberries and spinach. It is an intermediate in the oxidative coupling of dihydronaphthalene to produce the naphthalenes. 1-Methoxy-2-methylnaphthalene has been shown to have antioxidant properties and can be used as an additive to prevent food from becoming rancid. The vitamin has also been found to be effective in treating certain types of cancer. This compound has shown activity against leukemia cells and provides protection against free radicals that are implicated in many cancers.
