- 4,4',4'',4'''-Porphyrin-5,10,15,20-Tetrayltetrabenzoic Acid
TCPP is a porphyrin derivative that can be used as an ultra-high sensitive spectrophotometric reagent for Cu, Cd. It has been shown to have diagnostic properties and is used in the detection of metals in the plasma mass spectrometry. TCPP was also found to have long-term toxicity, which may be due to its ability to affect energy metabolism and transfer reactions. This compound has been shown to react with human serum proteins, leading to the formation of hydrogen bonding interactions with amine groups on haptoglobin, resulting in the inhibition of haptoglobin from binding oxygen. TCPP also binds with cysteine residues on hemoglobin via disulfide bonds, inhibiting polymerase chain reaction.
