Ethyl pyridazine-4-carboxylate is a heterocyclic compound that contains an aldehyde group. It has two isomers, the Z and E isomers. The Z form is more stable than the E form. Ethyl pyridazine-4-carboxylate can be hydrolyzed to ethyl pyruvic acid or diethyl succinate. This compound also reacts with cinnolines to produce benzoquinones, which are antithrombotic agents. The carboxylic acid of ethyl pyridazine-4-carboxylate can be converted into an alkaline hydrolysis product by reacting with a base such as potassium hydroxide (KOH). This reaction leads to the formation of pyridazines, which are ketocarboxylic acids.
