(E)-Methyl 3-(2-Nitrophenyl)Acrylate is a nitro compound that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects against lung cancer cells. The nitro groups on the molecule are able to bind to proteins, which blocks their activity and prevents them from carrying out cellular functions. This leads to cell death as a result of an inflammatory response. (E)-Methyl 3-(2-Nitrophenyl)Acrylate has been shown to be an inhibitor of calcium channels in the heart and brain, which may make it useful for treating conditions such as high blood pressure.
