Endothelin-1 is a peptide that acts as a vasoconstrictor and plays an important role in the regulation of blood pressure.Endothelin-1 is also an endogenous ligand for two G protein-coupled receptors, ETA and ETB. Interesting Endothelin-1 is the most abundant isoform and is expressed in endothelial cells of every blood vessel. It exerts its vasoconstrictor effects through binding to ETA receptors located on the smooth muscle.
