(S)-H8-BINAP is a chiral ruthenium catalyst that is used in catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation. It is a ligand that binds to the metal atom and increases its reactivity, thereby accelerating the rate of the reaction. (S)-H8-BINAP can be used for the synthesis of organic compounds by cross-coupling reactions with organometallic reagents. This compound has been shown to be useful in the labeling of organic molecules using radioactive isotopes, which aids in determining their structures, as well as hydrosilylation reactions. The kinetic data for this compound has been obtained from kinetic experiments on primary alcohols and alkenes.
