Dichlorodicyclopentylsilane is an inorganic, synthetic chemical that has a molecular weight of 152.2 g/mol. It is used as a thermal expansion agent in coatings and as a catalyst in the production of acid-resistant coatings. This compound is synthesized by reacting chlorosilanes with ethyl alcohol and hydrogen chloride gas. Dichlorodicyclopentylsilane has an optimal reaction temperature range of -50 to 50°C and can be used as a catalyst for the synthesis of polyester resins.
