BDE No 66 is an analytical method that can be used to detect polybrominated diphenyl ethers. It is often used in the environmental setting, where it is a useful tool for detecting polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and other pollutants. The BDE No 66 solution is prepared by dissolving 1 g of bromodiphenyl ether in 100 ml of dichloromethane. The solution must then be shaken and left to stand for 12 hours before use. This solution has been used in vitro assays to detect genotoxic effects and human serum as well as unsaturated fatty acids. It can also be used for solid phase microextraction to extract polybrominated diphenyl ethers from the environment.
