It has antiviral and anticancer properties, which are due to its ability to inhibit viral DNA polymerases and tumor cell proliferation. 2-Isobutyrylamino-9-(2'-O-tert-butyldimethylsilyl-5'-O-DMT-b-D -ribofuranosyl)purine 3'-CE phosphoramidite is also able to interfere with the synthesis of cellular DNA because it can be incorporated into the growing strand at any position.
